Designed by José Canales, the course now extends to 6,540 metres from the back tees, playing to a par of 72, and water hazards feature at almost half the holes, particularly on the recently reversed front nine.
Highlights include the par three 3rd (requiring an all-carry tee shot to the green); a couple of long, tough par fours at the 11th and 13th (rated stroke index 2 and 4): and the left doglegging par five 18th which plays to a heavily sand-protected home green.
In 2020, the Valle Guadiana Links – as the course had been renamed – was taken over by the nearby Isla Canela resort and it’s now called Isla Canela Links.
