L'Isle Adam

Situated an hour’s drive to the north of Paris city centre, the course at Golf de L’Isle Adam is a mid-1990s production from Ron Fream. The fairways are laid out within woodland and open country, with water only ever intervening on the back nine at holes 10, 17 and 18.

The course occupies a hilly forested site, twice rising into higher ground before returning back down to less elevated terrain. The first of these climbs begins at the tough, left doglegged 3rd and the next few holes are played out at this new level before the routing brings golfers back down again at the par four 7th hole.

On the back nine, the 342-metre 11th again plays uphill and fairways remain at this higher altitude until the downhill par three 16th returns golfers back down to the lower reaches of the course. It’s not quite a roller coaster ride – more an agreeable golfing excursion that involves a few pleasant changes in elevation.
