Jefferson Landing

First opened for business in 1991, the course at Jefferson Landing was renovated by Kris Spence in 2017 to bring into play revetted, links-style bunkers, along with landscape improvements such as a new creek and a waterfall.

Kris Spence provided us with these exclusive comments:

“The JLC renovation had multiple layers focusing on tees, bunkers, fairways, irrigation system and upgrades to practice or off course golf experiences.

The original course routing designed by Larry Nelson was not changed but we did rework the bunkering to improve aesthetics and highlight strategic angles/thinking. All tee complexes were lowered, enlarged and sodded with bentgrass. The fairways were realigned, widened and regraded to improve surface drainage.

A completely new irrigation system was installed with expanded coverage to better utilize water resources and improve rough areas bordering the fairways. We reworked the green surrounds, removing artificial mounding to create more old-school, traditional surrounds. Short cut collars and chipping swales were added around many greens for variety.

The main practice tee was tripled in size and a 4-hole short course/short game area was added near the clubhouse. This added a great off course gathering area for players to work on their short games or prepare for the big course.”
