The Carthagena is the 2nd course at John O’Gaunt Golf Club but its signature 16th is memorable. The split fairway plunges down to a double-tiered green surrounded by trees and bunkers. F.W. Hawtree laid out the first nine in the 1960s and his son Martin fashioned the second nine in the 1970s.

It’s a really nice course that I must say held up really well is the bad weather I endured during my visit there last month. Its great to have two courses you can play and as someone who has had quite a lot of friends move over here from bourn I can say they really have enjoyed moving over and spending time on both courses.
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
