Kennsington
Brian Huntley is one of many golf course architects hailing from Ohio, so we’re sure he feels some pressure to grab attention whenever possible. Ownership at Kennsington Golf Club (near Youngtown, Ohio) embraced the approach, and golfers at this public-access course will experience a range of hazards and eccentricities on almost every hole.
The fact that a few par threes will require forced carries over wetland, or into a barrage of bunkers, almost seems tame. A number of fairways feature centerline bunkers to force a decision and, if that isn’t enough, the short par four No. 2 features a grove of trees playing the same role. They're much more difficult to hit over than a bunker, but the boulder in front of the green at No. 8 is somewhere in between on that front.
Naturally there will be other split fairways, bunkers, and water hazards to contend with across the route. Kennsington is clearly a course that places emphasis on every hole being memorable.
