A local newspaper reported the imminent arrival of the new Kensville golf course on 9th January 2009 as follows: “Come Sunday, Jeev Milkha Singh will become the first Indian golfer ever to ‘endorse’ a course, at the Kensville Golf and Country Club in Ahmedabad.

‘Though I am endorsing Kensville’s quality, on the design front I will be assisting Colonel (KD) Bagga (the original designer) so it will be a Col Bagga and Jeev Milkha Singh Signature Golf Course,’ Jeev, the world No 34, told the Hindustan Times.”

A couple of years later, the club hosted three editions of the short-lived Gujarat Kensville Challenge and it was fitting that Gaganjeet Bhullar would win the inaugural tournament in 2011, becoming the first Indian golfer to triumph on the European Challenge Tour.

The course now extends to around 7,300 yards from the back tees, playing to a par of 72, and notable holes include the 600-yard 9th (doglegging severely left from tee to green) and the short par three 11th, where a small water course crosses diagonally in front of the green.

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
