Not sure what memory stands out the most, "War by the Shore", Rory dominating, or Phil overtaking Brooks to win the PGA at the age of 50, whatever memory serves you best until you walk these fairways you will never appreciate the land, design of Mr Pete Dye, and the beauty of the golf course.
The clubhouse is not some 15,000 square foot mansion style but rather a "homestyle" feel small enough to take it all in but large enough to have one of the best 19th holes in the world.
The opening tee shot should be easy for all of us but the excitement after taking the shuttle from driving range to the tee just builds excitement and the 4 times I have played this course I am 0 for 4 on fairways hit and I am a decent golfer (2.4). The 2nd and 3rd holes are my two favourites beautiful risk-reward par 5 followed by a short par 4 that Rory famously struck the tree on.
I can not wait to go back and play here, hopefully it is soon.
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
