Review for Kilmacolm

Reviewer Score:

I played here for the second time with a member last week, and I have to say I enjoyed it much more the second time - the first time was after a long spell of heavy rain and it was quite soggy underfoot - but on this occasion the greens and fairways were well drained and much more playable. We played on a perfect sunny afternoon, and as you're playing golf about 400 feet above the surrounding terrain you'll have some dramatic views whatever the weather,Although not overly long, it's no pushover. I particularly enjoyed the 14th The Quarry, which has a generous fairway but very difficult to judge 2nd shot over a huge rocky outcrop guarding the approach. All in all it's a beautiful course with lots of variety - no chance of getting bored here - a fine example of a Scottish moorland course, definitely worth a visit.
