Kilspindie lies adjacent to Craigielaw Golf Club on a coastal stretch in East Lothian which includes such stalwarts as the Gullane triumvirate, Muirfield, the Renaissance Club and North Berwick. Not surprisingly, Kilspindie does not match up to these layouts in terms of offering a championship golfing experience, but it does offer a thoroughly authentic taste of links golf as it probably existed a century ago. It is more akin to Brora or Tain in terms of its fairly modest length, few forced carries and less-than-brutish bunkering. The coastal scenery is still top-notch. Quite frankly, Kilspindie might provide many golfers a chance to regain some much-needed swagger and swing confidence if they've been beaten up by, say, Muirfield. If you find yourself in this part of Scotland, I would highly recommend a trip around this Wille Park Jr. design. (As well as Craigielaw next door).

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
