King Valley

King Valley is located near Aurora, a 30-minute drive north of Toronto. Course architect Doug Carrick collaborated with Curtis Strange in 1990 to combine spectacularly beautiful terrain and design know-how to create one of Canada's finest new courses.

The 6905-yard, par 72 course was designed to be like those built in the early part of last century and Carrick's design concept complements the maturity of the landscape by emphasizing the traditional elements of the architecture. Consequently, tall pine trees frame holes that dip, rise and roll across some of the loveliest countryside in Ontario.

King Valley is one of more than thirty clubs that are owned by the ClubLink Corporation, owner/operator of private and daily fee courses. It’s a fast growing company, with assets of more than $500 million and more than 4,000 employees who look after a membership of nearly 15,000 members. ClubLink is certainly a big hitter in the world of top end Canadian golf.

Despite its success and rapid growth in the new millennium, ClubLink still has trouble making money. Company executives still seem pleased with the progress they are making – but some critics have blamed them for killing off affordable public golf and damaging private clubs by poaching members from traditional clubs. Only time will tell if all forms of golf course provision can co-exist in relative harmony.

King Valley offers a challenging course with a design that is intimidating to even the most experienced of golfers. All putting surfaces are double-cut, making them very fast. The greens are also sloped, which puts a premium on precise putting. The signature hole is the 585-yard, par five 18th which features a tough- to-hit, tree-lined, landing area with a large water hazard protecting the front of the green.
