One comment that I think bears making about Kingsbarns is that it is a thoroughly modern course, one that has been manufactured and constructed. It is easy to see why it is so popular, but to call it truly great, in such lofty tones I cannot. Its secrets are - a stunning location with views, American enough to excite old world golfers, but American enough as to not alienate American golfers. In reality, a great experience, but not truly great design - just depends on one's point of view. I personally don't have any plans to replace another play at NBWL, Royal Troon, Prestwick, Carnoustie, Royal Aberdeen or many others with a round at Kingsbarns. Plus the clubhouse is right out of Royal Liinks in Las Vegas. I'd head to St. Andrews for a post round reverie.
