Kjekstad Golfklubb was established in 1976 but eight years would pass before four holes were installed. Another six holes were added the following year before a full 18-hole layout was finally introduced in 1989.
The course extends to a modest 4,822 metres from the back tees, with holes carved from a landscape of dense woodland. Holes are routed in an out-and-back style and the layout plays to a par of 68 (36 out then 32 in), featuring no par fives on the inward half.
With seven par threes on the scorecard, there’s plenty of competition for the award of “signature hole” on the course but the 145-metre 10th must be favourite as the tee shot plays across a 40-metre- wide inlet of the Stordammen Lake to the green on the other side.
Other holes of note include the left veering par four 4th (rated stroke index 1); the par three 7th (played over a pond in front of the green); the right bending par four 13th; and the par four 18th which might yield a closing birdie if bunkers on either side of the home green are avoided.
