Ted Robinson had a number of prominent golf course designs on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, and none got closer to the Pacific Ocean than his entry at the Ko Olina Resort. Although the views of that mighty body will be admirable, Robinson flexed his notoriety for creating what he called “waterscapes” when laying out this course. The two signature holes owe a great deal of their popularity to the fanciful waterfall features that accompany them.
The first comes at No. 8, where players will drive off the tee toward a green 195 yards away. Although many par threes feature intimidating ponds along the left-hand side, this is the rarity where a laterally-angled waterfall will collect balls that end up going to the left, being ushered by the flow down to the pond farther downstream.
The waterfall at No. 18 will be less of a challenge for golfers, aside from the visual distraction. It flows from the right of out-of-bounds before making a horseshoe and pouring into a pond. The latter body will create more problems for you, however, as they’ll be required to avoid it on their way to a green that's surrounded by both H2O and bunkers.
Reviews for Ko Olina
I was staying at the Marriott right across the street and decided to play while I was out there. The club has plenty of rentals for all types of players and the rental sets are nice. The course was well maintained with great service. There are not really any ocean views more of course inland. This club offers 2-3 signature holes while the rest of the holes are just straight forward. the course does offer a surprise amount of wind that played a big factor in my round. I gave this a 3.5... nothing to go out of your way and play but if you are in town worth looking at.

The hospitality is outstanding as are the facilities, but it’s insanely expensive for such an ordinary course (300US) that meanders through housing estates. Course doesn’t have any character at all really, but was in very nice condition when I played it. Overall, you can do better
