Kokkedal

First opened for play in 1971, the course at Kokkedal Golfklub has hosted events on the Ladies European Tour. It’s also staged both the Ecco Tour Championship and the Danish Senior Amateur Open Championship, emphasising its championship credentials.

Extending to around 6,300 metres from the back tees, the course is laid out as two 9-hole returning circuits, each of which plays to a par of 36. Water rarely comes into play, though there are a few small ponds lurking to the side of the fairway on three of the opening four holes.

Golfers then arrive at the par four 5th (rated stroke index 1), where the fairway plays towards an offset green that sits behind a little lake. The par three 9th completes the front nine with a slightly uphill tee shot to a green that’s protected to the front by a clover-shaped bunker.

On the back nine, the best is kept until last at the 424-metre 18th, regarded as the signature hole on the scorecard. A downhill drive here is followed by an uphill approach to a home green that’s divided into three plateaus, requiring a very precise approach shot to conclude the round.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
