Konjiam
Set in the southeastern suburbs of the capital and originally designed by Japanese architect Dakano Minoru, the course at Konjiam Golf Club debuted in 1993. Seventeen years after it first opened for play, the layout was renovated by Golfplan, with fairways reshaped and sand capped, a new storm drainage system installed and double greens converted to single greens.
The course is owned by the electrical goods giant LG and its location within a ski resort less than an hour’s drive southeast of the capital makes it the perfect place for members to escape to from the big city. Laid out around an enormous arboretum, the tree-lined fairways can be stretched to a championship-standard 7,112 yards.
The Mountain nine is routed around Jeong-kwang Mountain, starting and ending with a testing par five hole. The first par three on this loop isn’t reached until the 6th, but it’s a short, downhill hole well worth waiting for. The Lake nine then winds around three large water hazards, the last of which lies to the left of the par four 9th as the fairway heads to the home green.
