Kragerø

Located in the most southerly municipality of the Telemark region, Kragerø has been called “The Pearl of the coastal towns” that are strung out along this particular part of the Norwegian shoreline.

In an area that’s very popular with active people who come to cycle, canoe and fish in the great outdoors, it’s easy to see why the Kragerø resort should also offer visitors the opportunity to play golf on its own 18-hole layout.

Extending to a sensible 5,428 metres from the back tees, the course at Kragerø Golf Club is set within a large, 1700-acre wooded property where golfers first walked the tree-lined fairways in 2003.

Feature holes on the front nine include the short par four 3rd – where the fairway narrows considerably as it bends to the right, around a small lake – and the par five 8th, requiring a tee shot carry over an irrigation pond and an approach shot across marshland in front of the green.

On the back nine, the par four 18th ends the round in fine style. Tee shots are driven to a narrow landing zone before a second shot is played to a well-protected, raised green that sits in front of the resort’s vacation apartments.
