La Crosse

Obviously this town on Wisconsin’s western border is heavily affiliated with the oldest sport in North America, from which it takes its name. However, the La Crosse Country Club happily introduced Europe’s oldest sport to the mix during the early 20th Century. A move to a different location during 1994 allowed the club to tap Arthur Hills for a more modern course where its members could continue their pursuits.

The course is divided between two valleys in the hilly region that rolls down to the Mississippi River. The second of the nines features woodland closer to the course than on the opening nine, however the majority of the course plays openly with minimal intrusion from trees. Several ponds come into play on both sides, however golfers will generally be able to take advantage of the rolling terrain on their way to a finish line 7,200 yards away.

Although the club also offers standard country club fare, there is notably no turf dedicated to lacrosse on the property.
