La Loma
The Jack Nicklaus Signature course at La Loma Residencial and Club de Golf lies on a hill overlooking San Luis Potosi, where holes on the front nine offer panoramic views of the city. The layout is a tough track which can be elongated to a mighty 7,577 yards from the tips.
Fairways are routed through a substantial residential development, with quite a few lateral sandy waste areas softening the transition from mown grass into the adjoining landscape. The opening five holes are routed on one side of a highway before the rest of the round is completed on the other side.
Water comes into play at three holes on the front nine (#6 to #8) and three holes on the back nine (#16 to #18) and they’re easily the best on the property. The pick of these six are the par four 7th (where the green sits on the other side of a long, narrow lake), and the par three 17th, which plays to a crescent-shaped green that’s fronted by sand and water.
