Review for Real La Manga Club (North)

Reviewer Score:

The North Course was played 2 times at early December of 2019 after and during very good organized tournament 19th OPEN LA MANGA CLUB GOLF! Tournament was pretty good at all stages and golf course prepared well.

The North course has more spectacular views as The South, but prepared worse. Palm trees, lakes and natural storm gullies are key features of the North Course, which is slightly shorter than the South, with tighter fairways and larger greens. The North Course was played 2 times which one from back tees and another from yellow (official tournament). I didn‘t find big diferences except few holes with much more distance and dificulty from back tees (first of all hole No. 4 – long par 3, No. 6 – long par 5, No. 12 – long par 5 & No. 16 – long par 3).

The North course is not very complicated, but some holes are really challenging for experienced players. Accuracy is key as you navigate the fairways. The greens have plenty of movement built in. A good example is the second hole par 3 which has three distinct plateaux – a great test of putting. Interesting hole No. 3 (par 5) with very reachable green by second shot, but as it is blind you can give an award or lost ball. Players who like to risk have many possibilities to check theirs brave.

Actually The North course is more friendly for mid or higher handicap players and very good to warm up before The South. My opinion front nine are more interesting than back for really higher ground and spectacular views. Buggy is not required and course is walkable. Greens large and slow...for me it was the biggest challange. Maintenance is average, tee offs could be better prepared and more equal. Service is good, clubhouse nice and well equipment. Restaurant wide with very comfortable sitting places and tasty beer as well.

As every golf course rating is always a subject with a lot of subjectivity, depending on various criteria and personal point of view to importance things, my personal opinion depends on following criteria: course complexity or challenging, fields condition (especially greens & fairways), service (only what you can get: buggie, club rent, condition of clubs, the amount of choice and etc. except staff and other subjective things that depends on your or staff mood), surrounding views or pleasure to the eyes and definitely value for the price. All criteries will be rating from 1 to 5 stars. My priority is challenging and value for price criterias. So The North course gets:

1. Challenging - 3*+

2. Condition - 3*

3. Service - 4*

4. Surroundings - 4*

5. Value for the price - 3*+

Definitely will be back next year concerning all resort, but not for this course as alone.
