La Torre

In the early years of the new millennium, Polaris World created a number of residential golf developments in the southeast of Spain, with the course at La Torre Golf Resort the second of these projects completed by Nicklaus Design.

The course measures a modest 5,400 metres from the tips, playing to a par of 68, and holes are arranged as two returning nines, each of which is configured with three par threes and one par five (hence the relatively short overall length of the layout).

Large sandy waste areas dominate much of the landscape and water hazards feature at several holes; most noticeably at the 4th and 8th as these play around the same lake then at holes 11, 16 and 17 which are routed around an even larger body of water.

Highlights here include the long, right doglegging par four 2nd; the equally tough par four 10th (narrowing considerably towards the green); and the par four 18th, where a sea of sand surrounds much of the tee box area and the home green.
