Lake Joseph
The Lake Joseph resort course is one of more than thirty golf facilities that come under the ownership of the ClubLink golf company who have a reciprocal membership policy that allows its members to play at any of ClubLink’s courses throughout Canada.
Within 421 acres of prime Muskoka countryside, north of Toronto, the celebrated golf course architect Thomas McBroom fashioned this stunning 18-hole resort course on the shores of Lake Joseph. There is also a 9-hole Academy course for beginners and families alongside the main course.
The course opened in 1996 to rapturous reviews and McBroom has since gone on to construct another ClubLink course in the Muskoka region, the Rocky Crest Golf Club at Delta Rocky Crest Resort, a short drive away in West Parry Sound. It too is one of Canada’s finest golf courses.
Like Rocky Crest, Lake Joseph is carved on the rugged, pink rock of the Canadian Shield, a stone formation of granite that lies just a few feet below ground level throughout many parts of central and northern Ontario The granite outcroppings have been used to shape holes the same way that courses in Arizona are framed by cacti and desert. These remarkable rock formations are cleaned with high-pressure water hoses to accentuate their appearance and heighten the ambience of the course, giving courses in this region their unique character.
The 158-yard, par three 8th is the signature hole on the course. From an elevated tee some 80 feet above the level of the green, the tee shot is played to a small putting surface that sits within a wooded granite cliff with bunkers guarding the front and right of the pin.
The 6,885-yard, par 72 Lake Joseph course cuts through thick forests and sprawls across an undulating landscape, providing golfers with spectacular scenery, challenging play and lasting memories of a great location.
