Review for Lake Karrinyup (Championship)

Reviewer Score:

Just played last week One of the small and elite band of crusty old sandbelt clubs around the country - Perth's version of Royal Melbourne if you will (there is a Royal Perth but dont waste your time). However had played here in the late 90's and been unimpressed with the old girl a result of misguided design work by a certain famous British Open champion. But this has all been removed by a tremendous sympathetic rework back to its original style, while at the same time correcting some of the original design flaws such as too many right to left shots. Exceptionaly well done, and now I have no doubt back among the best in Australia and certainly the best in Western Australia by a country mile. Still rather hilly, with some uphill drives, that makes it a tough day if it is hot, but a really lovely old fashioned track of the highest quality, that is a joy to play - golf as was in the old days before the American architects got hold of the game and screwed it up. Horribly posh and private and so getting a game can be hard, but worth it.
