Lassing Pointe
Located just a mile to the southwest of Union, the Lassing Pointe golf course is a Michael Hurdzan design that first opened its doors to Bluegrass State golfers in 1993. In terms of early tournament play, it was used to host the Kentucky Open in 1996 and 2000, along with the regional NCAA championship in 2002 and 2004.
It’s not the longest of courses, measuring 6,724 yards from the back tees, but what it may lack in length it makes up for in challenge, with a great mix of wide open and tree-lined fairways, elevated tee boxes and raised greens – all of which you might expect to encounter on a course strategically designed by Michael Hurdzan.
Water comes in to play on several holes, none more so than the par three 14th and the par four 18th: it’s all carry from tee to a shallow putting surface on the former, while the latter plays to an enormously long home green which is set on a peninsula, across the lake from the 14th green.
