In 2009, nineteen years after Golfclub Lauterbach was formed, the club’s course was renovated to keep pace with the modern game. Set within a 250-acre property in the Vogelsberg region, this lovely layout’s now fit for purpose in the modern era.
Set within a 200-acre property to the west of Lauterbach, the course extends to 6,074 metres from the back tees, with par set at 73 (36 out then 37 in). Holes are arranged as two returning nines and water (in the form of small ponds) comes into play a few times during a round here: left of the green on the par four 4th; right of the fairway on the par five 15th; front right of the green on the par four 17th and behind the home green on the 18th.
Highlight holes include the left doglegging opening hole (rated stroke index 1); the only par three on the front nine at the 168-metre 6th; back-to-back par fives at the 473-metre 12th and 509-metre 13th; the tough, right doglegging par four 15th; and the last (and longest) of the short holes at the 170-metre 16th, where a sand hazard protects the front left of the green.
