Le Mirage (Carolina)

Singer Celine Dion took her love for the game quite a step further at the end of the 1990s when she purchased Club de Golf Le Mirage, joining a select group of celebrities – including actor Clint Eastwood, rock star Justin Timberlake and Country music legend Willie Nelson – who have spent millions of dollars in their quest to acquire ownership of a particular golf facility.

And of course, after paying a reputed fifteen million Canadian dollars for Le Mirage, it’s surely the prerogative of Ms Dion and her husband Rene to invite a whole host of famous personalities – people such as Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson – round for a game or two of golf.

Graham Cooke constructed both the courses at Le Mirage: the 6,384-yard desert-style Arizona and the longer, tougher Carolina, featuring tree-lined fairways and half a dozen lakes. A number of holes are worthy of note on this course, particularly on the back nine, where a waterfall dominates the 14th and the par three 17th plays to an island green.
