Architect Jeremy Pern set out the course at Golf Club Les Bois in two phases; the back nine in 1995, then the front nine four years later. The 14th to 16th in the pine trees is renowned as a particularly strong sequence of holes.

Situated half an hour’s drive north of Neuchatel, in the Franches-Montagnes District of Jura, the course at Golf Club Les Bois is a Jeremy Pern design that was built in two phases: the original nine holes (now forming the back nine) opened for play in 1995, with an additional nine holes following four years later, on the other side of a road that runs through the property.
Today, the layout extends to just over 6,000 metres from the tips, playing to a par of 72 (35 out then 37 back), with water coming into play at three holes on the front nine: par fours at the 4th and 6th, along with the par three 7th, all have greens located around the perimeter of the same irrigation pond.
Highlight holes other than these three water-laden examples include the left doglegging par four 9th, and the three woodland holes located in a little compartment at the southernmost part of the property, between the 14th and 16th, where fairways are routed stylishly around the fir trees.
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
