Limassol Greens is the only golf resort in Cyprus situated within an urban environment, placing a Cabell B. Robinson-designed par-71 layout beside the Akrotiri Salt Lake on a 1.4-million-square-metre site that was a citrus farm for the Lanitis family from the 1930s onwards. The combination of Bermuda fairways, fast Bentgrass greens, natural wetland holes and proximity to Limassol's marina, casino and beach makes it a functionally distinct proposition in Mediterranean golf.
Construction of the resort and golf course began in 2021. The total development budget is €400 million, encompassing the golf course, over 750 residences, including villas and apartments, and planned wellness facilities.
Cabell B. Robinson, whose European portfolio includes Aphrodite Hills (2000), La Reserva (2004), Finca Cortesin (2007) and Las Colinas (2010), was engaged to design the 18-hole layout.
Grassing of the course began in 2024, with the Tahoma 317 Bermuda grass variety selected for its drought resistance, having been developed at Oklahoma State University.
The course operated in partial form from autumn 2025 before the official 18-hole opening was announced in December 2025.
The par-71 layout measures 6,304 metres (6,890 yards) and occupies the full perimeter of the resort. Robinson structured the routing in three distinct sections shaped by the prevailing Mediterranean wind. The opening five holes demand accuracy into the wind; from the 6th to the 11th, the wind shifts in the player's favour to create scoring opportunities; and the stretch from the 13th to the 15th requires controlled shot-making and precise positioning.
Holes 5 and 6 are set within a natural wetland adjoining the Asomatos eucalyptus forest, offering a visual contrast to the drier terrain elsewhere on the property. The 18th plays as a sweeping hole wrapped around a natural lake, finishing on a long, narrow green. Much of the course mirrors the sandy dune character of the adjacent Lady's Mile coastal strip, with pot bunkers positioned as principal hazards throughout.
Limassol Greens is a new course with a clear architectural pedigree. Cabell B. Robinson's routing makes purposeful use of the salt lake, wetland and coastal dune terrain of Limassol's western edge, producing a layout with distinct sections rather than a uniform character. The Tahoma 317 and Bentgrass 007 surfaces position the course for year-round playability in Cyprus's warm-season climate.
As the island's only urban championship golf course, it occupies a unique position in Cyprus golf tourism. The course is at an early stage of its development as a golf destination, but the infrastructure, architect and location are sound foundations for a course that will reward a visit as part of a broader Cyprus golf holiday.
