Review:

If, like me, your criteria for a ‘must play’ course is that it must be presented in pristine condition, offer plenty of variety and have some of the best greens around then look no further - Liphook is simply a wonderful place to play golf!Granted, Liphook hasn’t got an abundance of yardage but I really don’t think it needs it. To score well you must be creative around the greens and have a deft touch. Furthermore, as I have already said the greens are wonderful. They are quick, true and undulating in places. It is the greens that offer Liphook it’s defence – they can make you look very silly at times. I just never tire of playing golf here. I love many of the par 3’s - especially the 3rd, 7th and 12th holes. Whilst not long they are all presented beautifully with strategically placed bunkers and subtle changes in elevation. Liphook also has some tremendous par 4’s and 5’s. I particularly like the lovely panoramic view from the white tee on the 4th – a particularly strong par 4 where your tee shot has to avoid heather left or right. The par 5 13th is another great hole requiring accuracy from the tee and plenty of decision making on whether to attempt to go for the green in two or where to put your lay up. If you haven’t played at Liphook before then you are missing out. Take the time to play at this wonderful venue – believe me, you won’t regret it.Steve Searle
