Review for Longniddry

Reviewer Score:

In a glowing review of Longniddry, the famous golf course architect, Tom Doak wrote in his book “The Confidential Guide to Golf Courses”: “bunkers are big, deep and plentiful, here.” Unfortunately, since that was written, many of the bunkers that gave Longniddry its individual character have been spoiled. Most recently at the 4th, 5th and 7th, large, attractive, cavernous, bunkers have been divided up into puny circular pots - the type you’ll see on any muddy inland municipal! It’s a pity, although still a fine course, a classic like Longniddry (designed by Colt, Braid and Mackenzie-Ross!) deserves better.
