Owned and operated by the Lopesan Hotel Group, Lopesan Meloneras Golf occupies two distinct tracts; the more compact front nine lies further inland, with the back nine routed in a large loop around a future development site.

Having been dissapointed on a number of resort/holiday courses especially in Tenerife/majorca etc, I didn't have high hopes for meoneras, especially as it was wall to wall 4 balls at 8 minute intervals, mainly German, however this breaks the mould a bit especially the back 9
the front 9 is more traditional with the 2 of the 3 par threes having water in front and the 8th being a really difficult par 4 with water in play on your long second shot, slightly too many large concrete storm drains but other than that the greens were excellent and the condition, considering the traffic it gets was superb.

The shot glasses were broken out, and the schnapps were poured from a hip flask in the shape of a golf ball.

Having just completed a golf cruise on Seabourn Sojourn from Barcelona to Canary Islands with 24 golfers and played golf when visiting most ports, we elected to stay 4 nights post cruise at Gran Canaria and play the top 3 ranked courses – Anfi Tauro, Real Las Palmas and Lopesan Meloneras.

This is an impressive track which I understand has undergone a major upgrade in the last 12 months.

Meloneras is worth playing for holes 11-16 alone.

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
