Lora Bay
The Golf Club at Lora Bay is architect Thomas McBroom's third completed project for Intrawest, one of North America's foremost resort developers, and it was designed in collaboration with the 1996 Open Champion Tom Lehman.
Fairways have been set around a residential estate that’s located next to the Nippissing Ridge, just west of the village of Thornbury, where several of the holes are routed along the escarpment, offering golfers fantastic views of Georgian Bay.
Amongst the feature holes here, there’s a couple of short par fours, one on each nine. Avoiding the large fairway bunker on the left of the fairway at the 5th hole allows a good chance of making birdie whilst steering clear of the three intimidating sand traps on the 328-yard 14th gives every chance of a similar score.
The signature hole arrives at the par three 15th, which is reckoned to be one of Ontario’s most memorable. Played from an elevated position that offers fantastic panoramic views of Georgian Bay, the tee shot drops more than two hundred feet down to a green nestling in the woods below.

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
