This review is by a Walking Scorer for both the 2017 Walker Cup and the 2023 US Open.

Playing LACC felt like stepping into something really special—kind of like walking into the White House of golf.

I think about LACC multiple times per week and wish - probably more than any other course I’ve played - that I could go back.

Because so much has already been written about the course, I'll skip a hole-by-hole review and share just a few highlights:

The architectural heft of LACC / North was clearly improved by the involvement of Gil Hanse, Jim Wagner and Geoff Shackelford.

In the city of Angels, where stars frequent every street and publicity is a currency, it seems impossible that a golf course of such stature has managed to remain relatively low key for so long.

LACC is one of the hardest invites to secure.

2 rounds at this monster, one last Monday from the Blue tees to “warm up” and the last one Wednesday morning from the Black Tees (not US Open but way over 7100yds) to end an unforgettable 2 week trip to California.

LACC is one of the best examples of variety anywhere in the world.
