Luttrellstown Castle Resort

Luttrellstown Castle Resort is located in a wonderful estate on the outskirts of Dublin. The parkland course is situated within a 560-acre property that has at its centre an ivy-clad, 600-year-old castle.

Tom Mackenzie of Donald Steel & Co. redesigned the course in 2006, adding a new short game layout and practice area. What was already a fine set of holes on the main 18-hole circuit have now been refurbished to true championship standard with USGA-standard greens.

Set in rolling countryside with several lakes and many stands of mature trees, Luttrellstown Castle is a very pleasant place to play golf. The course is relatively open with bunkers that have been sparingly installed and rough that is never too penal.

It requires length off the tee, where the big hitter will flourish. At over 7,000 yards from the back tees, Luttrellstown Castle is very long, with only one of the four par threes under 170 yards and six of the ten par fours over 400 yards – be prepared to open your shoulders and let rip from most of the tees here!

The River Liffey winds its way through the property and it features behind the green of the 421-yard par four 10th and remains very much in play until the 15th hole.
