Lyon (Les Brocards)
Golf Club de Lyon dates back to 1919 but both 18-hole layouts at this golf facility (Les Brocards and Les Sangliers) are of a more recent vintage. The construction of a new main road in the early 1960s forced the club to move to its present location, with Fred Hawtree designing the course now known as Les Brocades. It’s on this 18-hole layout that the Open de France took place in 1979, with Scotsman Bernard Gallagher winning the event.
Les Sangliers followed in 1991, designed by Hughes Lambert, and this 18-hole course also hosted the Open de France a decade later in 2001, with José María Olazábal winning the 85th edition of the tournament by two strokes from three players.
