Maxstoke Park

Founded in 1898, Maxstoke Park Golf Club lies half an hour’s drive east of Birmingham city centre, within the grounds of the 14th-century Maxstoke Castle, which has been owned by the Fetherston-Dilkes family for more than four hundred years now.

Today, the course measures 6,418 yards from the back markers, playing to a par of 71 (36 out then 35 in), with water hazards coming into play at half a dozen holes (three on the front nine at #5, #6 and #9 then three on the back nine at #10, #14 and #17).

Highlights include the longest of the three par threes on the card at the 199-yard 9th (played over a lake to a large green that’s protected by a bunker to the front left) and the only short hole on the inward half at the 165 -yard 16th, where four large bunkers surround the green.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
