Mayan

Established in 1918 as Pamplona Golf Association, Mayan Golf Club, as it is now known, is recognised as the oldest golfing society in Central America.

The club’s first course was situated in the La Paz district of Guatemala City before members moved to La Chacara in the south east of the capital. Finally, in 1962, they relocated a short distance to the present country estate between San Miguel Petapa and Villa Nueva.

Enjoying wonderful views of Lake Amatitlan and the two active volcanoes of Pacaya and Aqua, the modern day course measures a whopping 7,103-yards from the championship tees, routed in two returning loops of nine holes.

The right doglegged 8th is a feature hole on the front nine whilst the double doglegged par five closing hole provides a worthy conclusion to the round here at Mayan Golf Club.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
