Moor Park High has a pleasant mix of holes. The most interesting holes are over the best terrain: holes 11-14. But most of the holes have some interest with the 2nd and 8th being a particularly fine. I also liked the fall-away green on the 4th. The finish sags a bit, with 16 and 17 lacking in interest, but then the 18th is a cracking par 3 to end. The High could be greatly enhanced by felling unnecessary trees and opening the course back to a true parkland style. The firs behind the 4th have no place on a golf course. Also the new (unattractive) bunker rebuilds have stripped the course of much of its character. What are those ugly pot bunkers doing on the 11th? As designed, Moor Park had attractive expansive bunkers; the course would greatly benefit from a bunker restoration.Don’t ignore the West at Moor Park or Tricky Ricky (formerly Moor Park East) next door. In some ways these two shorter courses have more character than their big sister.
