Mosfellsbaer (Hlidavollur)

In 2014, the golf clubs of Bakkakot and Kjolur merged to create Golfklúbbur Mosfellsbaer. The Hlidavollur course in Mosfellsbaer had been extended to eighteen holes two years earlier, with fairways laid out next to the black sand beach of Faxafloi Bay.

The layout now measures just under 5,800 metres from the back tees, playing to a par of 72, with holes set out as two returning nines. Highlight holes on the front nine include the par four opener (where a gully crosses diagonally in front of the offset green); the tough par five 5th (which hugs the coastline); and the par five 8th (with the green protected in a similar style to the 1st).

On the back nine, notable holes include short par fours at the 10th (with another ravine veering across the fairway) and the 16th (which bends slightly right to a green with out of bounds to the right of the fairway). The 170-metre closing hole then concludes the round in fine style, playing to a home green that sits to the side of a little creek.
