It is said that Jack designed Muirfield Village with Augusta in mind. It is extremely challenging for both professional golfers and club members. Perhaps too challenging for club members? 

The closing holes are the toughest on tour, and while the strength of Augusta is the holes on Rae’s Creek (11, 12, 13, 15, 16) there are more holes featuring rocky creeks and lake carries at Muirfield Village- and while they may not quite have the outrageous beauty of the holes at Augusta, they are just as testing, and still pretty.

I particularly liked the way the creeks work through the property, running along one side of the fairway, at times crossing the fairway once, or even twice.

It is not a course to let up- you need to maintain your concentration to the last...

We had the pleasure of playing Muirfield Village a week after the 2025 tournament.

The area had experienced a particularly wet few weeks and the rough was long and thick.

I doubt if there was a more difficult golfing challenge anywhere in the world than Muirfield Village in these conditions- it was just too difficult for the travelling golfer..

It was both magnificent and monstrous!

On the other hand Muirfield Village is a very special golfing destination designed to test the best, it's one of the great championship courses in the world.

It maybe the perfect test to decide 'the best of the best.'
