I played Murray down several times in its early years as part of my Easter time Murray golf course pilgrimage (reminder that is autumn in Australia). I always liked the course and found it rewarding for middle handicap players like me as there were always some birdie opportunities and a few outstanding hole as described - particularly the 5th which is a long par 3, I used to hit 3 wood in, but you can actually bale out short left and avoid most of the water. The bunkers were good sand unlike some other Murray river courses and there was an interesting variety of holes. It was always in good condition at Easter, when the temperatures are not a baking 40+C, which is not uncommon in summer around Swan Hill.
