Nakuru

Lord Francis Scott – who, like Lord Delamere, was one of the biggest landowners in Kenya in the early 20th century – inaugurated the original 9-hole Nakuru golf course in 1929 and it would be another 12 years before a full 18-hole circuit came into play.

Laid out on the slopes of the volcanic Menengai Crater, Nakuru is the only highland course in Kenya and the spectacle from the 8th and 18th tees of blazing coral pink flamingos set against the deep blue colour of nearby Lake Nakuru is one of the finest wildlife sights in all of Africa.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
