Set out on the floodplain of the meandering Danė River, the course at National Golf Resort is a David Krause design that’s complemented by a driving range, a 3-hole executive course and first-class practice facilities.
The main 18-hole layout extends to just over 6,000 metres from the back markers, playing to a par of 72, with holes arranged as two returning nines. Water hazards come into play a few times, most noticeably on the opening three holes then at the signature short par four closing hole, where the rather contrived island green is shaped in the form of a map of Lithuania.
Other holes of note on the course include the long par four 6th (rated stroke index 1) which narrows considerably then doglegs sharply right to the green, along with the par five 9th, where the fairway swings right past large ponds on either side of the fairway to the green.
On the much shorter back nine, six of the holes are played out in a separate compartment on the east side of the river in the southern part of the property, starting with a straightforward par three at the 193-metre 11th then ending with the difficult par four 16th which runs alongside the river.
