Newbiggin

Set out on laid out on the North Sea coastline, to the south of Lynemouth Power Station, the links at Newbiggin Golf Club overlooks the beach along Newbiggin East Beach. The club first began in 1884 when members played on a nine-hole layout created by Mungo Park one of one of the Alnmouth professional at the time.

Nowadays, the modern day 18-hole course extends to 6,532 yards from the back markers, playing to a par of 72, with holes routed in and out-and-back-fashion. Unusually, there aren't any par three holes along the nine-hole front and only two holes at the rear nine at 166 yards 12th and the 160-yard 17th.

Some highlights of Newbiggin include the challenging 3rd hole, a par 4 (with no boundaries on the beach on just to the left side of the fairway) and the doglegging right fourteenth par 5 (the sole par five of the back nine) as well as 17th par 3, in which the green is guarded by bunkers that are small across three of the area.
