Holes are set out as two returning nines and the river – Lake Kulovesi actually which connects the towns of Sastamala and Nokia – provides a backdrop at the par three 5th, where the green overlooks the adjacent sparkling waters.
Water directly affects the playing strategy at the left doglegging par four 10th (rated stoke index 1) with a crescent-shaped pond wrapped around the right side of the green, forcing players to consider bailing out with their approach to the bunker-protected left.
Other notable holes include the short par four 4th (where eight bunkers guard the front of the green) and the par five 17th which crosses a creek as it bends gently right towards the green.
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
