There’s more than a touch of traditional Scottish or Irish links golf to be found on the 9-hole layout at Nordsee-Golfclub St. Peter-Ording. One of Germany’s most northerly golf courses, it’s situated less than 100 kilometres from the Danish border.

Situated on the western tip of the Eiderstedt peninsula, close to the seaside spa town of Sank Peter-Ording, the course is laid out next to a long, wide sandy stretch of coastline with holes occupying a narrow tract that’s no more than 65 acres in size. Holes 1 to 4 are set out to the east of the clubhouse, with holes 5 to 9 played on the west side.
Extending to 2,880 metres from the regular tees, the layout plays to a par of 36, and only holes 4 and 5 have the same consecutive par rating. A double green is shared by the par four 1st and par three 3rd, and there’s an island green to negotiate at the par four 7th hole. The round ends in fine fashion with a par three played from a high dune tee position.
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
