North Lakes Resort Golf Club

One of the newer golf facilities in the Brisbane area, and yet another course from the burgeoning Graham Marsh design portfolio, North Lakes Golf Club was a modern resort-style layout that offered visitors a not so typical game of resort golf. However, the course closed in September 2019 after the owner sold the land to the Village Retirement Group.

The holes at North Lakes Golf Club were routed round water hazards and well placed bunkers as found on many resort course but fairways – although aesthetically appealing and likened by many to acres of green carpet – were not as forgiving as might be expected and straying from them often resulted in a lost ball.

Measuring a mighty 7,100 yards from the tiger tees, North Lakes was the first Australian course to incorporate TifEagle greens (in 2002) and these fast and true putting surfaces were invariably the most talked about feature of the course by visiting golfers.

North Lakes represented excellent value for those who wanted their golf on a pay and play basis but sadly they now have to go elsewhere to fairways new.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
