Northumberland Links

In 1964, a 9-hole course was established at Pugwash by a few committed local golfers. The provincial government then took on the responsibility of refurbishing the layout and expanding it into a full 18-hole track in the late 1980s, before returning ownership of Northumberland Links to the members in 2001.

Today’s picturesque course offers a rich mix of links-like fairways that sit directly on the Northumberland Strait and tree-lined inland holes which allow occasional glimpses of the sparkling waters nearby.

The 195-yard 4th is regarded as the signature hole on the scorecard, set out along the coastline of the strait. It calls for an heroic tee shot to hit and hold the green as the Atlantic Ocean sits ominously at the foot of a steep slope to the left, awaiting all careless golf ball sacrifices to Neptune.
