Northwood Club
Architect Bill Diddel laid out the Northwood Club course in 1950, two years before it hosted the US Open. Julius Borus won that event by two shots, with only seven under-par rounds posted for the four rounds of the tournament on what was regarded as a tough Texan track.
Jay Morrish modified the course in the 1990s but it’s the new millennium renovation by Tripp Davis that has brought back many of the classical elements of the original design, none more so than through bringing into play the creek that runs through the property.
In The American Private Golf Club Guide author Daniel Wexler writes: “If one looks beyond the inflated expectations bred of a Major championship past, Northwood is a solid, mature parkland test dotted with a number of challenging holes – and a somewhat overlooked stop in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.”
World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
