Nuremore

Nuremore Golf Club was established in 1964 but the facilities – including the Eddie Hackett designed 18-hole course – now enjoyed by the members have only been in place since 1991. Now known as Nuremore Hotel and Country Club, the Nuremore resort hotel, clubhouse and course are situated almost half way between Belfast and Dublin at Carrickmacross.

Nuremore is a well-maintained parkland course with pristine fairways, interesting bunker designs and beautiful greens. Holes are laid out over terrain that ranges from rolling to hilly with many stands of mature trees throughout the property. Water come into play on the 2nd then from the 5th to the 8th holes.

One of the feature holes on the front nine is the 7th, a 363-yard par four where a pond is in play off the tee, requiring a 160-yard carry to the fairway. That’s not the end of the water hazards though, as a ditch lies either side of the fairway before crossing the fairway 50 yards short of the green. Care must also to taken to avoid being long with the approach as out of bounds lies at the back of the green.

There is only one par five on the outward half but that is more than made up for on the back nine when back-to-back par fives are played on the 14th and 15th – located at the south west corner of the property. The 564-yard 14th has out-of-bounds all the way up the left of the fairway and the 493-yard 15th is played over the back of a small hill.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
