Founded in 1927, Odense Golfklub is the 5th oldest golf club in Denmark. It now operates a 27-hole facility, featuring the 18-hole Holluf Park layout and a 9-hole short course called Pinebanen.
The club staged the European Amateur Championship in 2001, when Stephen Browne from Ireland won by five shots from his nearest challenger (Scotland’s Stuart Wilson), shooting an 18 under par aggregate of 270 for four rounds.
Today, the Holluf Park course extends to 6,354 metres from the back markers, playing to a par of 72, and both the front and back nines start with a par five hole. Water comes into play at several holes, most notably at the par fours on #2, #5 and #12.
Highlight holes include the right doglegging par five 3rd; the heavily sand-protected par three 9th; the tough par four 11th (rated stroke index 2); and the par five 16th which has a creek diagonally crossing the fairway as it turns right towards the green.
